Candidate 101 (November 2025)
Join us for the 2025 Candidate 101 at the Surry County Service Center in Dobson. This is event is hosted in partnership with the Surry County Board of Elections and the Chamber's Public Policy Committee. This session is designed to demystify the process of becoming a candidate and provide the essential knowledge needed to run a successful campaign. Whether you're seriously considering a run or simply curious about how it all works, this is a great opportunity to get your questions answered. There is no cost to attend. What You’ll Learn: How to file as a candidate Campaign finance basics and reporting requirements Important deadlines and legal obligations Tips for building a campaign team and strategy The role of local elected officials Who Should Attend: First-time candidates Community members interested in public service Supporters and campaign volunteers Following the forum, you are invited to a networking session at Uncorked, where food trucks will be available to enhance the evening?s experience. The NC Chamber, in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, has launched Carolina HealthWorks ? a new, more affordable health plan option designed specifically for small businesses, their employees, and their families. As a member of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber, our local small businesses (2-50 Eligible Employees) will have access to new healthcare plans, designed to be lower than current marketplace plans.
